Even if Linux could match up to the usability of windows one day.. the problem would be that Windows is more unified, more of the mainstream programs run for windows, etc. Proprietary software may bother some, but if we didn't have it, the internet (and any kind of publishing industries for that matter) wouldn't be the same. It has tons of software available for use, I still don't know how to install something on Linux (due to laziness).
