samo123_uk
I am in a couple of weeks going to build a new computer using this motherboard kit. What I would like to know is what kind of configuration you would reccomend when I first start to configure the BIOS? I think the motherboard is a nice red MSI MS-6380E (have you seen it's fan!!?? :)), the cpu is an athlon 1900+.What actual speed is this? The other bits that are going in is a geforce 3 ti 200 128MB, SB Live, 60GB HD and the rest.

Nude Rooster
For starters: Everything should be correct by default, check your DRAM frequencies, Athlons are locked so multipliers will be default, make sure you AGP is set to 4x, set your AGP aperture to 1/2 your ram. Use common sense on everything else. The Extra Mile: (What I do) Once you have your os installed, install 3dmark and sisoft sandra. Go back to your bios start tweakin the fsb and overclockin your memory. go up one setting at a time run the burnin wizzard in sandra and run a couple 3dmarks to test stability. Try running your memory beyond specs, you usually can and it is under a lifetime warranty anyway, put your CAS latency down to 2 and tweak. That is my basic protocol when I get new stuff. Also make sure it is set to boot from CD to install your OS. Edited to make some spelling fixes
