minhaferzz
From reading the article, it sounds like he would pull a Puff Daddy -> P Diddy stunt and change his moniker to something else and continue making albums.
mr_skrilla
it was a good time... one of the best artists ever... his rhymes were so smart and funny. He had so many good songs...
Server.System
I have listened to all his ablums all the way through (even Infinite) and a D12 album. All i have to say is that IMO its total crap and I'm glad when he leaves. And just so I dont get any crap I have Jay-Z albums, Ludacris, Jadakiss, and and old Nelly, I'm also 22yo and white. I just always hated Eminem.
Draconian Guppy
I can't understand why people have so much hatred/disliking for Eminem, the man is clearly talented, I bet you if michael jordan had bad grammar people would still be his fans as long as he played like he did ;), Eminem may not have a pulitzer award as a song writer, but he can rhyme and make his anger-filled songs #1, and I bet they don't go #1 because he has bad grammar. It's sad to see him part as a solo and go as a producer, going on duos just won't cut it :( , hip-hop just won't be the same without him... btw. best record: The Marshall Mathers LP IMO... bangbang023 Veteran Posted July 18, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 18, 2005 Spewing out what popular culture wants to hear is not art and its not beauty, its sad. If you want to admire him, admire his perfectly oiled money press.(Y) This post is my opinion, and to be taken as that, this is the internet and people have opinions, if mine differs from yours tough **** 586234175 Funny how you would choose my post to reply to. Either way, it's art to me. Whatever your opinion is, his ability to mesh words and syllables and sounds into a pattern that sounds natural and energetic is one that is unrivaled by most other artists out there. There's no hidden message or generic "I'm a gangsta, look at my riches and bitches" talk. It's all there for everyone to see/hear.
vincent
I liked the old Eminem (Slim Shady LP) not the new Em, or what he turned into He lost his underground feel, but i guess that's what happens when you blow up. ;) Also i lost alot of respect for him when he released that "2pac" album with the whack ass "Game" and "G"-Unit. by the way pick up the latest Murder Dog magazine and Game is on the cover with a big interview on him and how he claims to be the "King of Compton"

Rap is going through this glamour phase and it's going to need to fall a bit if they want to save it. As for Em, he had the ability to branch out to people who normally wouldn't listen to rap, like myself. His lyrics have different meanings to them and his approach is just so different that it, in many ways, resembles the rock music I love.
Circaflex
i agree with ripgut, i liked his older stuff more, he had a few "serious" songs i liked on his newer albums. Bring back the days of Infinite!
Sticktron
If you are not intelligent enough to appreciate the skill required to write 12-14 syllable-per-line rhymes, let alone to freestyle at that pace, then you go on chanting "Eminem sucks!!! OMG! He's dumb!! Good Charlotte rock the Earth!!". For the rest of us, like him or not, we KNOW Eminem is one of the most talented lyricists ever in the game, and not only that, but one of the brightest writers of our generation, period. In the old days, his art was called poetry. Today, some of the best culturally-aware short form writing finds itself at the heart of Hip-Hop. When he first busted out in the scene, everyone in my neighborhood was trying to put me down for listening to him because he's from the East and and he's white. But i didn't care, he had tight flows, and the song "i still don't give a ****" and "role model" are my favorite Em jams (Y)

Media scapegoat, who they can be mad at today See it's easy as cake, simple as whistlin Dixie while I'm wavin the pistol at sixty Christians against me Go to war with the Mormons, take a bath with the Catholics in holy water - no wonder they try to hold me under longer I'm a motherf*ckin spiteful, DELIGHTFUL eyeful The new Ice Cube - motherf*ckers HATE to like you What did I do? (huh?) I'm just a kid from the gutter makin this butter off these bloodsuckers, cause I'm a muh'f*ckin The point is: if you hate him, great, good for you. However, there are those of us who see him as a poet of modern times, a voice for a generation that is frustrated and angry.

falcon1
I am going to be perfectly blunt here. Every single one of you (with a few exceptions) are a bunch of fecking idiots. I cant believe you are arguing about something that is as subjective as music, and further, that you have the audacity to actually suggest that the music/artist you listen to is better/more talented than the ones I, or any others do. I hate rap. I do, really. I cant stand it. BUT, I dont go around to others who may enjoy it and tell them not to listen to it because I dont like it. Music varies so much, as does personal taste, and I think that it is about time you guys open your eyes and realize that probably half the music you are listening to now, whether it be rap, rock, country, blues, or any other variation, is actually talking about acceptence of others. Maybe its time to start taking those messages to heart?
kirk26
DETROIT (Reuters) - Rap superstar Eminem plans to make his last solo performance in Ireland in September, the Detroit Free Press, his hometown newspaper, said on Friday. Citing sources close to the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, the daily also said his current album "Encore" would probably be his last as he moves to full-time work as a record producer. The final solo appearance of Mathers, the best-selling hip-hop artist ever, would be at a concert in Dublin, Ireland, on Sept. 17, the Free Press said. The newspaper quoted his manager, Paul Rosenberg, as saying no official decision had been made about the future of the Grammy and Oscar-winning artist who has recorded three top-10 albums. But Rosenberg said Mathers' current multi-platinum album was "certainly the cap on this part of his career." Mathers' spokesman at Interscope Records in Los Angeles could not immediately be reached for comment. The Free Press said the rapper, who has sold more than $1 billion worth of records, has grown weary of the media spotlight and may be musically spent. "Marshall feels he's said everything he can say as Eminem," one insider was quoted as saying. "The idea that he intended this ("Encore") to be his last record is something that everyone on the inside circle has known for a while." Another source said "Encore," which was released last year, had been an especially difficult record for the artist to make. "Marshall really struggles to write for himself now, to speak through the voice of Eminem," the source said. "He knows as well as anybody that there comes a point where you risk beating this thing to death." The cover shot on "Encore" shows Mathers taking a bow, and its closing song is entitled "Curtains Down." In the album's liner notes, and in his current concert tour, Mathers has also played up the figurative death of Eminem. "This is how you go out with a bang, baby," Mathers says in one video," after pulling the trigger of a pistol that misfires on himself. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/leisure_eminem_...HNlYwMlJVRPUCUl 586221195 This is very good news.
