99% sure that is going to be a ram problem... its pointless to try and install if it isn't going to work after you do it, reboot it again and see if it posts, make sure it keeps posting till you waste time..

Sounds like memory to me, I got about 5 or 6 beeps when setting up my dads A7M266 MOBO and the RAM was dead, unfortunately as we didn't have a spare we couldn't check there and then. Don't worry about the CPU I suspect you're severely over-estimating the force you exerted and that's the way everybody without the correct tools does it and unless you've scratched the MOBO with the screwdriver (the No.1 cause of MOBO killing) it should be fine.

Well, just wanted to remind ya, I used to have a problem with a bad RAM. Sometimes, it works on monitor and then get ready for install for Windows XP.. While installing.. Poof, it did reboot by itself and never came back on Monitor.. I had to turn the computer off and on.. over and over. Hell with it. Just get a new RAM, you'll be ok.

even bios? heh ram for sure, just send it back and get a replacement, Kingston, Crucial, Ocztech are all good, just that sometimes ram comes defective, who knows maybe you even shocked it with static-electricity by accident. I've had this problem before so trust me, just replace the memory and it'll be fine.

No I didn't tell you that, you asked me if you could do that, I said it had been done.

Make sure the HSF is on the right way around. If there isnt a proper frim connection from the CPU to the HSF then the CPU will overheat and keep crashing and restarting itself.

Dan is probably closer than anyone else.

Make sure the step on the heatsink is facing the right way, if it's not the heatsink won't make complete contact with the cpu and that will cause the cpu to get hot and lock up, and a cpu at that speed does generate quite a bit of heat.

Otherwise the best bet is to remove everything you don't need, like cdrom, nic, modem, etc and try to boot the system.

Ty guys.. Im going to my friends shop tomorrow, and gonna have him take a look at it.. If it IS the processor, I will upgrade it to 1800+ XP just for the hell of it..

I will give some of the thoughts you all have given me and take them to the shop with me.. Thanks for the help.. I beleive the heatsink fan MAY be the problem as well, but the computer is currently not with me.. Its in the car, no intention to go get it =
