as a motherboard that supports more than just 4 devices (besides the floppy) . . i have:

1 dvd rom

2 cd-rws

2 hd's

i can only use the two hd's and 2 of my other drives . . is there a motherboard that supports more devices . . at least 6? . . or is there a way to further split each split . . and thus, from two ide connetions on the motherboard, support 8 devices . . ??

I hope u understand this . . and thanx in advance

ya . . that's the idea . . well hmmm .. then do u know if there are motherboards that have 3 connections (each split to support 6 devices) . . or 4 connections (8)?? . . I can't seem to find any that have more than just 2 connections...

and while i'm at it..i'm also looking a motherboard that (with the above request) . . supports a dual-processor configuration

Must it be on the MOBO? You can buy PCI IDE controllers to add more drives.

Promise has PCI ide controllers, a lot of mobo's with onboard raid will also function as ide contollers as well. I run a Soyo SY-K7M Dragon+ and it has a raid controller, with a switch of a jumper it becomes 2 more IDE channels (4 more HD's, 2/channel) I know that alot of ABIT boards have this option, I have an ABIT KG7 raid, I dont know if that one will function at a IDE or not, and a Asus A7V that has additional IDE's. Actually everyone of my mobo's 4 IDE channels now that I think about it. Check out promise if you want to buy one seperate of the mobo.

Newegg has one right here

PROMISE ULTRA133TX2 CONTROLLER CARD - OEM 2 Channel IDE Supports UDMA 133/66/100 - Two Year Warranty.

Model#: ULTRA133 TX2 Detail Specs -OEM Special FedEx Saver Shipping $6.00

-See It! (image count 1 ) -Price Alert (N82E16816102007)

$30 + $6 shipping, that is a rough price estimate, tho you wont be able to get them to ship it to Peru.

If you search for them on google search for IDE CONTROLLER CARDS, that is your best bet to find one.
