actually the firefox trunks have the fast back option that was added to kmeleon

that is what they mean by browser.sessionhistory.max_viewers now enabled as default

this means that firefox 1.1 will be as fast if not faster

The point why KM is faster than Firefox is not from the Gecko engin. KM is using the windows native interface not XUL so it 's absolutely running faster on Windows.

did u read my response? the turnks have the fastback option that make kmeleon fast, once firefox 1.1 comes out, people will experience the new speed

Of course, that is part of it. The difference for me however, is that K-Meleon loads up almost instantly on a cold start, while FF with no extensions (Deer Park nightly) takes a few more seconds.

I've always disliked firefox because of the XUL engine (really slow startup and other things on older machines). Hopefully k-meleon can do better :)

Here's a tip for anyone who prefers a download dialog rather than the download manager:

Go to about:config and search for browser.downloadmanager.behavior Set it to 1 for the download dialog, 0 for the manager, or 2 to not show anything.
