I am an active member in Microsoft Beta

I have been chosen to test Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2k3 RC2 as well as WMP 10 and MSN Messenger

I posted and received swag fro my help. I have not ben chosen for Longhorn Beta 1...... :(

Who gets selected? On what criteria?

Just be patient, they don't send out all the invites all at once, it's progressively sent, there' still about a week or two until the expected BETA 1 arrival is (i only read somewhere, i believe channel9, it's slanted on 27th of july, but it probably changed again).

As far as I know, it was people who signed up at WinHEC that would get in :s

Asking persons to publicly disclose if they were chosen is against the Longhorn Beta program NDA.

No NDA is broken if the program hasn't started yet.....

denwatts, you are not alone.

Similar to JDP (joint development partnership) program where you should recieve copies ahead of time before other beta participants becuase they value your opinion. It is no wonder it stands for most valued partner.

Good luck mate.

chriscustom,

See my post right above. MVP is a good thing, so don't take it too personally. You are part of MVP program, but it does not mean you are officially an MVP unless you are on the Microsoft MVP roster.

Connect.microsoft.com is the new portal to beta testing programs; however, I am still receiving other beta tests that still require beta.microsoft.com

Now, we have three places to go.. the more the merrier?

P.S. it is actually four places, if you include JDP site.

It's funny.. I've been chosen for Windows Server 2003 R2 Beta, Virtual Server 2005 SP1 beta, and now just got an invite for MSN Messenger Beta. But, I did not receive an invite for Longhorn Beta 1. Probably has to due with the fact that I am already on Windows Server 2003 R2. Oh well.

I'm surprised they picked me.. i have only tested windows update and xpsp2

I'm in for MSN and Longhorn Beta 1. Now, actually being able to enter your invitation ID's into the site is a whole different story.

I had to use Firefox in order for the Connect site to finally accept my ID. Using IE, all I got was the Server Error page.
