Denis W. Veteran Posted July 19, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 19, 2005 When I view a video in Firefox (and now it also happens to Opera) usually I expect the new, WMP9 style plugin to pop up and play the video. Instead, the ugly looking classic plugin is used. Is there a quick fix to change it back to the WMP9 style plugin?
iron2000
Anyway before doing anything does video in IE use the old plugin too? If IE uses the v9 interface, don't run the stuff following (to play safe). Not sure about this but i got this idea from the thread on "Problem watching video in browser". At the Run dialog enter: regsvr32 wmpdxm.ocx regsvr32 wmp.dll

Damn it, Microsoft and their tricks  Anyways I tried reinstalling Opera and strangely the WMP9 interface came back. This also worked for Firefox. Strange. On a offtopic note, just WHY does IE have the WMP10 look and both Firefox and Opera use the WMP9 look? Argh! bangbang023 Veteran Posted July 20, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2005 You need this registry key to fix the problem. Simply download it, double click and click 'yes' when windows asks if you want to add it to the registry. http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/resources/wmp9.reg For Opera, use this one. I believe it should work (assuming the name of the opera executable is opera.exe: wmp9.zip

The problem was already fixed for some strange reason but these will come in handy.
