Sane404
This has puzzled me for a while. But when I'm viewing videos in Firefox, the version is Windows Media Player but in Internet Explorer it's WMP10. Is there anyway to make FF use WMP10? Thanks
Denis W. Veteran Posted July 19, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 19, 2005 I was wondering the same thing as well. Rough guess: Firefox/Opera/(insert other browsers here) use plugins which still have the WMP9 look, but IE and the ActiveX OCX control uses the new WMP10 look. bangbang023 Veteran Posted July 20, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2005 You need this registry key to fix the problem. Simply download it, double click and click 'yes' when windows asks if you want to add it to the registry. http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/resources/wmp9.reg

But like I said, I'm pretty sure Microsoft did this on purpose to make the ActiveX version fancier than the plugin version. (If you consider glass to be fancy, that is.) The key is the same for wmp78/9/10 but was released when 9 was the official version.
Sane404
Well, I have WMP 10 installed, that I'm sure of. WMP10 was working in IE, then I did that reg thing and it's not now. Ah well.
