Microsoft OneCare Beta

Recommended Posts

Have you guys been to http://beta.windowsonecare.com/ yet?

I am using OneCare right now. The interface is nice, but this beta is not including AntiSpyware at this stage. Once you are accepted, you will receive one year of OneCare Service subscription.

It will use ActiveX to detect and see if you meet the system requirement, and it does not let you download the standalone setup program. Instead, it installs the program off the web site. You can reinstall on new computer however.

It is unclear to me if you are technically allowed to install on two machines at the same time. I highly doubt it

Also, prior to this, I have Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 9.x installed. OneCare didn't find a big problem with it, but I have since uninstalled Symantec to avoid compatibility issues.

Windows OneCare will run in the background, notifying users of updates and potential threats to their system, such as worms, viruses and spyware. OneCare will also automatically carry out PC maintenance and backups. Interested Windows users can apply now for the summer beta test by visiting Microsoft Beta using the Guest ID: OneCare.
