If you have gotten yourself a new MoBo recently you have to unplug the "PCSKPR" plug on it.

I got my self a new MoBo last friday, installed all the plugs were they should be and got that anoying LOUD BEEEEP whenever I confirmed an event within windows. I had to open my rig and unplug that thingie :p

If you did not buy a new MoBo adjust the PC speaker to "Mute" on your play control. If you do not see it displayed go within the Playcontrol, go to Options| Properties|

Now under "Show following volume controls" check "PC Speaker". It will now show up on the Play control display. Now you can check the "Mute" Option.

Let me know if this worked.

Succes! ;)

Reinstll your sound drivers, or if you have, Remove The Intel Application Accelarator, or Intel Chipset Drivers.` unless you're usint an ATHLON. then of course what i just said is pointless.

I don't have a real answer, but I used to have the same problem, and I posted a successful work-around here . It's ugly, but it works!

I too would love to know the cause of said beep. I can't remember when it arrived...acts like an XP feature that can't be disabled. And I refuse to disconnect my case speaker!!!!

Good luck. Let me know if you come up with a better solution.
