Crazy_Seb
no need to post a second thread for it. And no the HSFs are different, cuz the XPs are a higher clockspeed, so you need better cooling than for a puny Duron. :pirate:
Nude Rooster
It isn't just based on Duron, T-Bird, XP, or Tbread either, they HSF that they send out are different from all processors. The biggest one i have seen is the T-Bird 1.4, the fastest one before the XP's. I upgraded from a 1.4 to a 1800+ and the 1.4's HSF was bigger than the 1800+. AMD boxes one that will fit your need for the processor you buy.
daoutlawz
um yeh, all the processors have diff HSF made for em, simple fact (i think) well from the duron to the xp1800, the xp1800's core is set lower, so the older hsf's will not reach the cpu, i found this out the hard way when i used my thermaltake twin orb from my overclocked duron on my new xp1800 and when i went into bios (FIRST EVER TIME I BOOTED UP MY NEW PC) the cpu's temp was 155 degrees celcius, this is not good.. btw i quickly unplugged my comp, and saved the cpu!!!! :D :D :D the only way i could get the orb to work on my new cpu was to put alot of paste on the bottom.. so yeh, hope it answers yer q's :D :D ...but even then it started at 60 deg and was slowely climbing...... in the end i jus bought a new HSF for an xp1800.
