My Microsoft Longhorn Design

Recommended Posts

Wow,

Some extremely nice concepts there. I realy hope that the new UI is capable of these complex effects. Everyone seems to get real excited about simple transparency but I find it ugly and distracting. What you've done in your concepts is take it to that next level - one I hope that Microsoft itself will travel.

I remember the hype about the XP UI being revolutionary and beautiful, but the first thing I did was run WindowBlinds to change it - it was that ugly. Not that most WB skins are that good anyway, but there are some rare gems.

So until Beta 2, I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best... oh, and watch for more of yours and other designers fantastic screens.

Regards,

Sartori

Trojan in ur design i dont really see much difference from the normal or previous skins expect the shell style you jacked form longhorn inspirat se and i dont like the back and forward buttons look like somehting from kde , gnome. I was expecting much better from what i saw in your Msn Messenger mockups. Not flaming here just my honest opinion and i agree yours is the best one in the thread so far ...

Wow the flaming that goes on in this forum is outta control. Morons insulting others for no reason and then apologizing because they were too lazy to read the main thread.

Yeah, you know who you are.

Look VERY closely at the top right corner of the setup window, and the bottom left corner of the music window. Not just in these areas (although these are the most visible) anything 3D cathces the red glow of the close button. What would be really cool, is if in Longhorn could render artificial light sources, AS IF the whole OS was 3D. What I'm saying... is that you could make a button in an application render a glow, or light source, so that anything '3D' in any windows, icons, or text would 'catch' the light. Another cool idea: when you move the 'glass' window... the reflections move across the glass, giving the illusion of actual reflection... not just gradients put in place.

Just thought I'd let you know the reflections do move across the glass windows exactly as you describe in beta 1 :)
