Boffa Jones Veteran Posted July 29, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 29, 2005 True. I just don't see how the gov't can't see the hypocracy? I refer only to the gov't. But honestly, how can you support the chair and be opposed to hanging?

Anything less than "horrorific 1st degree murder", will not get you killed by the US justice system. I mean personally I'm against the death penalty as a whole, but clearly it is used slightly more rationally in the US.

Sandor
Nonsense, I refuse to accept that the Iranian government has a right to kill it's citizens. Especially if the human rights groups are correct and they are being executed in actuality for merely being gay.It isn't about hiding. It is about what the executioner is supposed to represent. The fact that they wear masks is because it is "all of society" that is killing this person, not the individual that actually hangs them. 586286005 nonsense is you saying that when the death penalty is still used in the USA... in the USA you might get executed for murder. in iran, homosexuality/rape might carry the same penalty. whether you like it or not or think its right or not isnt important. Dave Veteran Posted July 29, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 29, 2005 on the one hand, execution is a rational machine. on the other hand, it is completely irrational. 586291855 Hence the qualifier "slightly" in my statement. nonsense is you saying that when the death penalty is still used in the USA... 586291912 First of all I do not have the power to change the death penalty's legal status in the USA, if I did it would already be gone. I do not believe that any state has the right to end the life of any of it's citizens. in the USA you might get executed for murder. in iran, homosexuality/rape might carry the same penalty. whether you like it or not or think its right or not isnt important. Again, ammoral nonsense. Because I haven't the power to change something at the moment I am to just accept it, no matter how wrong I view it to be? I refuse to accept that, nor should anyone. Speaking out against an injustice (as I see it) is not only my right, but my obligation.
