i used adobe cs2 to make the original image smaller. i just used fireworks and can now view with IE. apparently the problem was with CS2.

I'm using Firefox and I can't view it either...it says that the jpg contains errors. However, like you I can view it with Windows Picture/Fax Viewer.

The only thing I noticed when I opened it in PS: CS2, is that it has a CMYK color mode...maybe that has something to do with it??

you can see it fine because i opened it in fireworks and exported as a jpg. however the original jpg (which i attached) is not viewable in IE/firefox.

xy1 was made with fireworks, is viewable in IE.

xy2 was made with CS2, not viewable in IE.

both images were opened, resized and saved, nothing else. the original was also not viewable in IE.

i'll let someone with knowledge take a look at the 2 and see why one works and not the other.

i had this problem... IE and firefox definitely cannot view JPEGs that was created in CMYK color mode... open in Photoshop then change the color mode to RGB.

Opera have no problem displaying in though
