Fred Derf Veteran Posted July 23, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 23, 2005 Okay, I recently upgraded from FF 1.0.4 to FF 1.0.6 I noticed my Spellbound spell checker no longer works. Okay, uninstall. Restart FF. Reinstall Spellbound. Umm. The little green update icon next to the Help menu appears and I don't get my home page and I can't click the menus. Reinstalling FF 1.0.6 overtop did not fix the problem. Uninstalling and then reinstalling did not fix the problem. I did fix the problem by uninstalling, manually removing all related folders and profiles and then reinstalling FF 1.0.6 Spellbound and other extensions have since been reinstalled and all is good again. This thread only serves as a heads up to other members. Is there an easy way to back up a known working profile in case I run into this problem again? dj6ross
On my main machine I went from 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 no problems. On my laptop I went from 1.0.4 to 1.0.6 and it won't connect to anything. It's almost like Firefox is looking to use my wireless connection (which is disabled). IE works fine. Maxthon does the same thing Firefox 1.0.6 does, it won't connect. So I went back to 1.0.4 which seems to work. :(

axis
Backup fox does one thing, backs up your profile folder file minus the cache if you choose to do so and makes it a zip file. But call the extension .firefox instead of .zip, rename it, you will see. I want something that really backs up my profile. It is hard to do that succesfully, it always, always breaks it and I have to rebuild it. We all know how painful it is to rebuild a firefox profile, if you use it like I do. It is almost like rebuilding Windows, its a long process. Mozilla needs to do build in an export feature, because I need that stuff to work. Have a scheduler, etc.

GG-
Upgraded 1.0.4 to 1.0.6 without uninstalling without any problems. All of my extensions + themes are still working perfectly - adblock forecast fox etc... Could be a problem @ spellbound.
