Windows XP Recovery Console

Question

Can anyone tell me if I can use a Windows XP Pro CD to boot to the recovery console on a Windows XP Home system? I need to run a chkdsk /r to get rid of an unmountable_boot_volume message on a computer w/ Windows XP Home edition on it. The problem is, they have an HP computer, and they don't have an actual Windows XP Home CD. HP decided to be cheap and put the restore stuff onto a hidden partition on the hard drive.

I don't need to do a full repair of the whole system. I just need to run chkdsk /r to get rid of that message and I can't boot from a floppy because it's running NTFS instead of FAT32.

So can anyone verify that I will be able to use my Windows XP Pro CD to get to the recovery console? Or will that not work correctly?

boot off your WinXP cd-rom into setup, when prompted press R for Recovery Console, have your ADMINISTRATOR PW ready and you'll begin.
