How do i share Office xp


Question

i want to give my parents the ability to use outlook and word , i have office installed on my server but when i try to send a shortcut it gives me an error is there anything i can do without having to install office on their pc? it only has a 8gig hd

ahem, pay no mind to subject.

i've only seen this type of thing done at school as i ne'er attempted this myself. are you sharing the officexp folder with your parent's pc?

btw, what sort of error do you get?

how are you making the shortcut? you say, you're sending the shortcut. i'm assuming from the host pc. try making the shortcut after sharing the folder, from the client pc.

I dont see why you wouldn't just install it on their system to avoid any problems or privacy concerns.

I have the entire Office Suite installed and it only takes up about 250MB, so I can assume that only two of the applications would take up even less space.

Office installs many keys in the Registry, so you can't share this on a network, and it installs many DLLs in the /windows/system32 dir... So all you can share, is the installer! :(
