montane
I ask because the one I installed last Saturday is 1.24 GHz (according to My Computer>Properties)... and I was expecting something higher. The motherboard is ok for that CPU, WinXP Pro and 512 Ram. Thanks for the input.

Its 1.67Ghz, your BIOS settings are set incorrectly, you must set the FSB to 133mhz rather than the 100 that is set by default

=NickJ=
Seeing as Osiris wanted to know another PR rating Ghz equivalency, i thought i'd post the whole lot: Athlon XP 1500+ -> 1.33 Ghz Athlon XP 1600+ -> 1.4 Ghz Athlon XP 1700+ -> 1.47 Ghz Athlon XP 1800+ -> 1.53 Ghz Athlon XP 1900+ -> 1.6 Ghz Athlon XP 2000+ -> 1.67 Ghz Athlon XP 2100+ -> 1.73 Ghz Athlon XP 2200+ -> 1.8 Ghz The formula is as follows: (2/3 * PR rating) + 333.33333333 = Ghz rating

jessejlt
If he needed a BIOS flash it would only read the type of processor incorrectly, however that is not the case, infact the speed is incorrect. Thre are only two possible logical problems, the fsb is set to 100 or the motherboard doesn't support the 133/266 fsb speed.
montane
Problem solved: the FSB was set --incorrectly-- to 100. As soon as I changed it to 133, as some of you advised, the speed numbers jumped to 1.66 GHz. Thanks a LOT for your help, friends.
