How fast (in GHz) is an AMD Athalon 2000+?

Recommended Posts

I ask because the one I installed last Saturday is 1.24 GHz (according to My Computer>Properties)... and I was expecting something higher.

The motherboard is ok for that CPU, WinXP Pro and 512 Ram.

Thanks for the input.

Its 1.67Ghz, your BIOS settings are set incorrectly, you must set the FSB to 133mhz rather than the 100 that is set by default

Seeing as Osiris wanted to know another PR rating Ghz equivalency, i thought i'd post the whole lot:

Athlon XP 1500+ -> 1.33 Ghz

Athlon XP 1600+ -> 1.4 Ghz

Athlon XP 1700+ -> 1.47 Ghz

Athlon XP 1800+ -> 1.53 Ghz

Athlon XP 1900+ -> 1.6 Ghz

Athlon XP 2000+ -> 1.67 Ghz

Athlon XP 2100+ -> 1.73 Ghz

Athlon XP 2200+ -> 1.8 Ghz

The formula is as follows:

(2/3 * PR rating) + 333.33333333 = Ghz rating

Chances are he needs an BIOS UPDATE, not a reconfiguration.

Please post your Board, Make and Model. So I can find you a Flash update.

actually i know alot, and you comment is just utter rediciulous, there could be a possibility that his motherboard doesn't know what the 2000+ is,i 've seen many motherboards that need bios flashes to see newer processors, intel or amd. his system may not undnerstand what the hell it is and therefore its clocking it lower and to fix that possiblity he needs a bios flash to run it properly, why don't you see the bigger picture, instead of whats just floating in your own little head.

If he needed a BIOS flash it would only read the type of processor incorrectly, however that is not the case, infact the speed is incorrect.

Thre are only two possible logical problems, the fsb is set to 100 or the motherboard doesn't support the 133/266 fsb speed.

Problem solved: the FSB was set --incorrectly-- to 100. As soon as I changed it to 133, as some of you advised, the speed numbers jumped to 1.66 GHz.

Thanks a LOT for your help, friends.
