IE 7 Beta 1 Stinks?

Recommended Posts

Oh yes!

IE is back!

They will fix the UI before final.

That is what beta testing is for. HELLO!

Will they fix the rendering engine? Who knows.

Posting from Konqueror, which passes Acid2 at this point.

Well not really suckers as they have got a lot of features they asked for while Microsoft have people like you defending their every move while not getting much at all in browser enhancement for years. :whistle:e:

I'm not a fan of any browser really, I use ie6 most of the time and firefox occasionally.

Defending? If i were with a crowd of people and all but me were beating the **** out of you, would that mean i was defending you? I couldn't possibly see it that way, how can you?

i like it, the phishing filter is useless, but the tabs are implemented nicely, the rss feature is nice, the search bar is also very useful, and really gives me no purpose to have the google toolbar. although i'd like to see some sort of drop down menu ability from your links toolbar, aside from all of that, it'd be perfect (imo) if only the menu was above the navigation toolbar/address bar

 Id suspect you had organised the beating but didn't want to be incriminated :)

I didn't mean it in an attacking way to you at all, so please don't send the crowd round.

I'm not very impressed with it, the user interface is just plain horrible.

But hey, it's a beta! This is exactly why Microsoft didn't want a widespread beta 1, they knew people were going to bash their unfinished product.

Three things I so far Hate about the new IE7 most. Other things, not much big deal yet.

These COULD be considered BUGs, or just very annoying things that I would like to be fixed by Microsoft!

1. There a big gap for every site in the links. That's what I don't like...

http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9749/in...rer7beta3wq.jpg

See the BIG space between NASA and movies? That is UGLY as hell! :pinch:

2. When you click the close button (top right), All the windows will close WITHOUT Warning :|

Microsoft need to make sure when people click on that close button, confirm with users that users would like to close down ALL tabs.

Cuz, I KNOW people would make mistakes and sometimes click on it by accident, and they didn't want to close all the tabs!

Right?

3. There is just something weird with Menu not at the Topmost. I tried, and couldn't move it to the top.

:(

Oh man, I gotta get used to NOT Alt-Tab anymore... I am still doing it alot LOL :p

And my wishlist for update/next version...

GOTTA GOTTA GOTTA support this

https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=350355

I am Swearing that if Microsoft does not do that by next release, I am gonna switch until it Does!

Arrrggghhh. This is Beta 1. That means it's nowhere near ready. It means your supposed to be concentrating on how the app works and how it reacts with websites etc. NOT how the frigging interface looks. It's been stated so many times now that this is not how the end product is going to look. It will be helped to be moulded and shaped by the input of beta testers etc.

This is why it's also a closed beta at the moment, it's not supposed to be for public consumption yet. So please stop moaning .

Couple Issues

- the "feeds" remains greyed out the whole time (i thought it was meant to go red when you visit a site with an RSS feed available)

- cant see anyway to create a group of favourites to open in tabs at once

- The links in the "Web Feeds" favourites folder do not all work (ammusingly the IE Blog link  )

No, not you. You have vaild points there in the way you think IE should work ie. the close button. That's the kinda things that people should be concentrating on right now. Not 'Oooh the buttons are too big and not the right colour'.

Functionality is were we should be look at, looks will come later once the true interface appears.

In my opinion it looks horrible. I only like the tabbed browsing and rss features added, the rest is just a shabby makeover imo :/

I wouldn't call it stink, but I would say it's not as good as some other browsers...

Hell, I don't even know why I am still using IE, but I do, for some strange reason I use IE instead of Firefox, even though FF is much more capable.

You know what is funny. Microsoft only allows MSDN subscribers to download this app. What is so special about it. The Mozilla foundation allows anyone with a PC to download their beta software and offer feedback. This sounds a little cocky to me from Microsoft. Looks like their going back to their old ways, when new software is getting ready to ship. Remember the cheap $2.00 radios we all got for beta testing Office 2003. I still havn't forgiven them for that slap in the face for all my hard work. Stick with Firefox people.    :)

I'd got more than $14.000 on free stuff and other freebies from Microsoft since I started testing for Microsoft back on 1998. I?d been giving almost every one and single thing they ask me to test and you know why? Because I?m there to test and I never ask for free stuff, I submit quality bug reports and suggestions and this how they know who is a better tester than other. Stop crying and go do your stuff, if you think you are that good you?ll be in the top 20 of the people testing if not you?re just there as an spec:angry: ::no:y:

BTW, I?d been giving about 5 boxes of Microsoft Office 2003, 4 of Windows XP Pro, more than 12 games for Xbox and PC, 2 sets of keyboard/mouse, one wireless base station and the Xbox wireless adapter, 1 MSN TV2 unit, 1 PC to test MCE, plus free trips to Redmond, LA and NYC with everything paid by the ??:laugh:il:rofl:ug:woot:ofl: :woot: :

I love it, switched from Opera / FireFox (was seeing which I prefered).. But I love the Anti-Phishing feature in Internet Explorer (Great for an eBayer, like me) and all the other new features.. Tabbed browsing works great, runs like a charm.

I need to get used to the interface if I am going to switch, since it's a big step from any other IE version. So untill Beta 2 or the RCs, I don't think I'm sticking with it for long.

I hate the new address bar, it can't be moved I'd like to have my Icons ABOVE the address bar along with the File Edit etc buttons, the tab feature is nice, but it's still no firefox.
