Vista Beta 1 Bugs

Recommended Posts

- Sometimes the Programs Folder on the desktop appears and disappears.

- Yahoo! Messenger 7.0 Beta doesn't work. I can install and start it, but I can't see/use the contacts list.

once you have manualy installed the drivers, the proper driver installation will work, and it will add in the extra features from creative, suck as speaker layout, eax settings etc..

/edit - dont forget to run the installer in compatability mode for XP to do this :)

No advanced aero effects even after installing the LDDM beta drivers from ATi AND trying to use the new version of TweakVista, using a 9700 Pro card on an Athlon XP 2800+ w/ 1G RAM.

  • 2 weeks later...

ok

I don't know if anyone else have this problem but, two bugs I noticed:

1- when you put files in the recycle bin, the icon doesn' refresh instantly or automatically. Sometime I have to press F5 to refresh the screen so I can see the "full" recycle bin icon. It's also the same if I do the opposite... If I empty the recycle bin, sometimes the icon doesn't refresh properly...

2- in the security center. if you go in Change the way the security center alerts me and you desactivate all alerts.... it disable ok at first, but if I restart my box, the alerts gets reactivated... this one bug is particularly annoying

so... plz! if any of you can confirm those bugs before I submit them :)

:p

Couple of things I've noticed. One is every puzzleing and if anyone has any information about it pleeeeease help me.

The internet seems a bit funny. I know it connected trough my LAN, i can go to google.com. I can search for anyhting on the web and the sites work. BUT I can't go to any other sites (except for cisco.com). All other sites don't load, but I am fully connected to the internt, drivers seem to work fine and everyhting. Any ideas?

Also there seems to somthing funny going on with dual screens. Sometimes it mirrors the screens and somtimes it makes it into one big screen if you know what i mean.

Iam also getting problems with bridging connections between 2 LANs. It somtimes doubles the LANs there and somtime says a network cable is unplugged.

Also my sound dosn't seem to work. I havn't played around with it, but the drivers arn't there. Do you think the XP drivers will work with it?

I installed the beta drivers for my ati radeon 9600 card and i think they seemed to work, I could at least put the refresh rate up. But do I have to install directx 9 for this glass effect to work or should it work straight off?

Thanks for any help

Jether

For people with ATI gfx cards (X series) that have problems.

The problems described are because your cards are AGP. AGP and PCI-e cards have the same ChipID, so Vista thinks you have a PCIe card, and it tries to load a PCIe driver. Naturally it fails, hence the black screen with the weird coloured vertical lines etc etc. The LDDM driver ATI has released has no support for X series AGP cards yet.

It's a problem with the drivers obviously, it will be corrected at some point. Until then, just use the normal XDDM drivers.

Yeah, I get the security centre bothering me despite being turned off. It seems a pretty common problem. Also, in Event Viewer and Services MMC's, if you click File, Options, you get a Disk Cleanup dialog.

Why are you all posting here for...?

Why not help out Microsoft by using their resources to review, discuss, and inform about bugs?

They have e.g. a bug tracker and a discussion group, you know?

Of course you cant. Those svchost processes are the windows services. Each one will be somemany services. There is a program someware to see inside each svchost process and terminate services. Or you could just try and disabled the service that is causing the problem in the services mmc.

ya. why are you posting it here when you should be submitting bugs so that when vista comes retail you wont be crying about how ms should have fixed something.
