Multiple Video Cards LDDM/WDM with Vista

Recommended Posts

I have a quad monitor setup with an FX5200 AGP and a R7000 PCI. The FX5200 (surprisingly) runs Aero Glass beautifully, however I can't get the Radeon 7000 to run. I'm guessing this is because it's not DX9 and AGP, but I need my other two monitors!

Would buying something like a PCI FX5500 help me (or does Glass need AGP?) or am I just SOL until I upgrade systems next year and get a PCI-e 1x video card for my extra monitors.

Is it possible to turn off Aero and just run classic?

Just change the theme to classic, and you are back to plain old windows style. We need a uxtheme.dll now. hahah

I run 3 monitors, two with FX5200 AGP and 1 with an ancient ATI Rage Pro. I have PCI as primary in the setup bios. Wouldn't boot with default LDDM driver. Came up in VGA mode and changed to non-LDDM driver and all 3 monitors work.

I tried Nvidia Vista 75.03? LDDM driver and WinVi booted, but couldn't enable the ATI card--no errors in Device Manager. So I went back to the Nvidia 80.40 non LDDM beta driver so all 3 monitors work, but no aero effects.

If using non LDDM driver you can still use Aero theme just no special effects.

in all honesty. if you are running a quad machine setup you shouldn't be running a beta OS, but rather something stable such as Windows XP. It is a beta OS... what do you expect.
