Deepu Sudhakar
If you right-click the drive in "My Computer" and check "Index this drive for faster searching", it should do it for you.
ClintEastman
Thanks for the suggestion but that's the way you tag for indexing on the OLD indexing model (yes and i checked to make sure). Is everyone else getting a full index? And when you use the main search page is the "in" dropbox disabled with users selected?
MaskingTape
I was wondering the same thing too. It only seems to index the drive its installed on. That kinda bites.

y_notm
Right now, searching outside of %systemdrive%\Users\ seems to either be broken or purposely disabled at the code level, there's no working way to do it via GUI, or the registry for that matter, as of Beta 1. You *can* make WSE index files not in \Users\, but those files will never be displayed in a search or virtual folder for some reason.

Anyway, haw do you get is to index more locations? (found keys to force a full index but that seems do do nothing).
y_notm
You have to create new startpages, but indexing the stuff is useless if you can't search for it. If someone can get full system search enabled you can be sure a guide for adding your own drives and folders will be made available as well
AlphaAlien
I've been working with y_notm a bit on getting it working, we have everything except defining where to extend the search to in the main search window done. Attached a screenshot of it index'ing more than just the \users folder (also vista on that machine is on a different drive entirely)

bugeja
Im surprised more people arn't asking about it. in fact is something which is bugging me lots as i am eager to test out the virtual folders without moving all my files to the system partition. hope they'll find a way around it soon. MidnightDevil
Does the indexing service really worths it? I guess its something that actually optimizes something could be schedulled automaticly by the system. What do u guys think? Also, you're talking about searching in like 2 specifig disks right? Cause you can search the whole "my computer" :p

What they want to do is enable to new indexing to the non-system drives.
dsteele_7
I'm also very glad to see that somebody is working on this... I was really looking forward to being able to try out virtual folders with my s**t loads of media files. I didn't want to have to transfer them over too cuz that's a pain and it IS still a beta after all and if I had to re-format I didn't want to have to worry about my files. Just off the top of my head isn't it possible to change (with tweakvista 0.60) the default location for user files? ... I know that wouldn't get you multiple drives but it would let you specify a specific drive (at least I would think/hope so) Looking forward to the guide!
