Flatty
Hi guys! Just finished reading the 1-zillion pages Vista thread... lol I've lost my eyes on it ;). I've seen some users tested 3dMark and Unreal2004 under Vista beta1. Did anyone else test recent games, such as Battlefield2, HalfLife2, FarCry, Doom3? Did you notice better, worst or same performances? A FPS comparison between XPSP2 and VistaB1 would be nice too :D
Jayzee
And just why would you like to compare WindowsXP final with Vista BETA, it isn't even complete!
Flatty
And just why would you like to compare WindowsXP final with Vista BETA, it isn't even complete! I know, I am just curios. Right now people said 3dmark got a better score, and the same for Unreal2004 performances :).

Flatty
Point of beta releases are not to compare with other final solutions but to find errors and correct them.Ok ok but I would like to know TODAY how games are running under a BETA os called Vista, compared to another Os called "Windows XP". That's all :). If you have no time to make some tests, just don't do them ;) I personally find very very interesting that 3Dmark is currently giving a higher score under a BETA os. XPGoD
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. pre-alpha doesn't work...lol Running the batch files will only result in black screen and looping audio... BUT... I seem to not have even remotely close to compatible drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS
chrispinto
i had half-life 2, cs: source and cs 1.6 all running great, better than XP in fact
Osiris
Yeah even paul thorrot (however spelt) said he would be curious to see how performances are, as he had an inkling in some areas it was already outperforming XP even as an untuned beta product. Xtreme $niper
I'm pretty cautious when installing products on beta 1. I installed msn messenger and the first time I ran it, my computer shut itself right off. The second time, msn halted and closed itself safely. Third time worked like a charm. Mozilla Firefox worked right off the bat, which is nice. I'm slowly going to test other products, but I only made a 20gig partition.
Malisk
Guild Wars is running pretty well it seems, and at similar frame rates. :) As for Firefox, I got some crashes (as in BSOD's, or insta-resets if you use that setting) with that, and IE 7 seems to perform more stable. LOL, when was the last time that happened btw. :D And yes, I reported these crashes as a good tester. :p Just because we're discussing this here doesn't mean we aren't reporting all crashes. Xtreme $niper
So far Firefox hasnt crashed once. Though I wouldnt be surprised if it did. No idea why I even installed Firefox on this. It's a habit I suppose. GTA: San Andreas is buggy enough in WinXP, I wonder how buggy it would be in Vista? Yikes.
ev0|
Vista is great, but it's really really picky about apps. A ****load of apps just won't work at all.
Hais
the ati beta drivers arnt doing too well on my 9600. i tried juiced and doom 3 as they were the first disks i got my hands on.. anyway they worked ok- framerate is lower though (something between 20-25 on default settings) and the graphics and textures are definatley not the same... looks like i'll be testing out some other drivers... _I am Reptar
My vista ran SLOOWW, like scrolling SLOOOWWWWWWW. It was due to a driver issue, never able to fix, deleted, back on XP :)
Master Shake
Do you have to get mobo drivers (mine is an nf3) or are they included in Vista?
unreal.keith
I've just been playing good old Guild Wars and Battlefield 2 on this, runs really nice and smooth :D:D I couldn't find any problems really. Except one thing - the 4.97 nforce audio drivers I loaded on for my nForce 2 A7N8X board is a tiny bit crackly sometimes. Edit: Vista didn't pick up the games and put em in the Games folder :( Although they are pretty recent...
