Recommended Posts

Is beta 1 considered the professional version because I wanted to load this up as a second os on my tablet pc, and see if the Tablet features were included. Anyone know

haideaks, actually there ARE tools for beta 1 specifically for the tablets. However if you got the OS illegally, tough luck...they aren't embedded into the os yet. If you are a beta tester, download it the same place you downloaded the OS.

Can you easily update a Tablet PC from Tablet PC 2005 Edition to Vista? (like you can on a desktop from 2000 to XP)

Wonder if the spex would be ok ...

Not yet. Once Vista is finished, then support for upgrades from previous versions of Windows (other than earlier Vista/Longhorn betas) will be included. As for upgrading existing TabletPC OSes to Vista, that may or may not happen.

Damn, then it's a bit risky buying the Lenovo Thinkpad X41 Tablet right now ... lol :pinch:

Why is that risky? He isn't saying that you won't be able to install it on your X41T. All Microsoft employees have assured me that they are working hard to ensure compatibility with major brand tablets.

Upgrading a Windows OS version means that the OS installation will keep all of your settings, as opposed to a full installation that installs everything with a default setup. I'm sure you will at least be able to do the full installation

The pen worked fine on my M200 with beta 1.

It doesn't have the TIP (by default anyway), but it works as a mouse and inks fine in OneNote. But it couldn't do the handwriting conversion because the rest of the Tablet stuff was missing.
