I am considering the purchase of a router. I am currently paying for an exta IP, but would rather do without that added expense. (Not to mention that at 9.95, I'm getting ripped!)

A friend recommended a Netgear RP114. I noticed the Netgear RP612. I'm not seeing much of a difference between the two, but then again, I don't know what to look for.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, does anyone have experience with either of these? Should I consider another company?

I'm wide open to suggestions or comments.

Please, give me specifics rather than "this rocks, this sucks."

Thanks!

Yeah, paying for an extra IP is being ripped off. I never tried netgear router. I have Linksys 4 ports: Etherfast Cable/Dsl Router BEFSR41. It's good, and cost around $100.

I've read a lot of horror stories about the LinkSys routers. I was hoping to stay away from them, but if enough people recommend it, then I'll give it a serious look.

Thanks for the input!

Everyone I know has had great experiences with Linksys. Personally, I'm using a D-Link 704 Router and it is working just fine. No problems whatsoever. Installation was extremely easy (especially with WinXP).

Linsys products work just fine, I just prefer the look of netgear pruducts. There are metal not plastic so the just seem nicer :)
