The Red Guy
Is the using of proxy servers actually slowing down the loading time of webpages on IE6? I'm using Opera, but for my other family members they use IE. I'm setting the proxy server to localhost (using Proxomitron), and I've noticed pages load slower. insanekiwi
yes. proxies make everything slower since it's redirecting/using another server through another etc etc.
The Red Guy
Even if I'm using localhost? Then are there any other ad-removing programs, because I'm using Opera and the adblock solution is too difficult to implement for me. Ad-Subtract, Proxomitron, Ad Muncher all involve setting the proxy server to localhost.

Having the proxy server as localhost, in itself, should not slow anything down; however, the ad filtering may. I use Ad-Muncher and I know some webpages do load slower because of the filtering. I'm sure it's the same with the other applications.
