Internet connectivity Issues in Vista

Recommended Posts

I want to carry on testing vista, but ever since installing, I have no internet conectivity whatsoever. I connect through a router onto broadband, and my connection is noticed, but I can access no webpages or any online content.

I've sent the problem to microsoft, but I'll wait forever for a reply and I just can't carry on using an os that can't connect to the internet. Anybody know how to fix this?

Is anyone else having network/connectivity issues on beta 1? It says that my card is connected, but it's not recieving any packets, just sending. There's also a little lock icon on the network icon. Anyone have any idea what's going on? It an average realtek ethernet card, so I'd assume it should be working properly with this beta.

Windows is not fun without the internet :(

not with mine, works perfectly. connects to a win2003 domain fine, and can also browse on the internet through my router when not on the domain.

Can someone confirm that there is a bug with the network? Double click on a network connection and tell me if recieved is at 0...

Cheers

Indeed there is. Happens on all the computers I've tried it on. Also, the connection will appear as firewalled, even though the firewall is disabled. The network still works fine though.

I have got exactly the same problem with my Realtek onboard LAN. Had the internet connected since this morning and still no packets received!! and only 28,347 sent.

If you are having trouble connecting to the internet, manually enter your ISP's DNS addresses in your IP properties. That cured my problems.

A LOT of people are having this problem, wonder if there's any fix for this. Even happens with Wifi.

Merged several threads of the same topic into this one.

Even adding my ISPs DNS addresses doesnt work for me. I've tried 3 Network cards, a Realtek, a D-Link PCI card, and a Linksys USB ethernet card. Could it be that my ISP isnt accepting 'Vista' as a viable OS? if that information's even sent.... Or a problem where the OS isnt communicating with my terayon modem? I'm on broadband cable through rogers btw.

Oh and just incase this means anything: under system events I get an error that NetBIOSSMB isnt starting and that it either cant be found or the drivers are missing :\

On my acer aspire 1692 wlmi i have a conflict between the broadcom gigabit adapter and the intel bridge. Maybe this network adapter is incompatible with vista? :pinch:

When my cable modem is connect straight to my PC, I have to connectivity, but if I connect my DSL router/modem straight to my PC or if I connect the cable modem first into the WAN port of the DSL router, and then the router to my PC, I'm fine.

No clue what the problem is though.

My cable modem is a Motorola SB5100 and my DSL router/modem is an Efficient Networks Speedstream 6300.

I have similar issue. I can access the network fine, but have problems with 90% of the web pages I try to access. i have installed Firefox, and can get to about 30% of the websites I try, but not any others. I do have packets sent and received, and have tried Broadcom and Intel Gig cards, and a 3Com 3c905x 10/100 card, but still no luck. Any ideas????

I finally got the Network adapter working on mine. What I had to do was disable the windows firewall and then reinstall my adapter drivers. No idea what caused that issue, but I'm typing this in Vista. Thank god for 3rd party firewalls :D
