Any luck with any image drive software?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any luck with cd image emulation software on vista? I've tried D-tools, alcohol, and nero and I get pretty much the same on all three. The install starts, and when it tries to install the PNP Bios Extension the machine either BSOD's or plain reboots. Sometimes I have to remove the driver it installs to get it to boot up again. I've read some reports that some people have gotten daemon tools to work with xp compatiblitity, but I've tried that with no success. I'd be happy if I could get ANY image drive app to work. Thx

My understanding is Vista (besides being early beta) is an entirely new kernel.  I would be surprised if most programs with hardware calls worked.

Yeah, I'm kinda coming to that conclusion too. Although some people seem to be having some luck, which is weird since none of these apps are hardware dependent. I guess I'll go back to just using burnt cd's for awhile. :(

I have an nf2 board and I got the Daemon Tools 3.46 working, I am even not using the Vista Beta DVD but an image of it from my hdd over daemon tools. At first windows said it cant install the driver some compenents are missing but eventually it continued and said to reboot ; after I rebooted I tried it, the problem is I can't open any files it just locks up when I open the "open image file" dialog box, but when I entered the image location manually to the address box in the "open image file" dialog box, it worked and at least I don't have to use the dvd.

My only problem is I can't use the ethernet controller in nf2 and without the net there is not much to try.

I installed Daemon Tools on Vista and it crashed/rebooted... now as soon as it comes up it starts detecting hardware ("PNP BIOS Extension") and it crashes/reboots again... its a endless cycle. Is there some way I can stop it. I only have a few seconds before it dies and it still does hardware detection in Safe Mode so that doesn't work either.

I've successfully used DT 3.47 on two different computers with Vista Beta 1 - got an error on the install for the first pc, but I ignored it and everything worked just fine.
