Windows Vista built-in Visual Styles

Recommended Posts

Hello,

In the final version of Windows Vista, does anyone know what Visual Styles would be included?

I would hope they include the XP Pro Style with the 3 colors, the Royale theme and the Classic Theme and ofcourse the Vista Themes.

Can anyone confirm or deny my wishes?

Thanks.

~ Andy

What. I'm confused as to what your asking. Can I confirm or deny your wishes? Unfortunately nearly no one on this forum works for Microsoft, sans a few. Secondly, Vista is no where near a final release, so know one except maybe Bill himself knows what the final release will hold in regards to visual styles.

But hey, maybe I'm completely wrong.

Luna and Royale (from XP and MCE, respectively) will not be found in Vista. There is a new style, why would they include the old ones?

By the way, "Classic" is not really a style. It's simply the lack of a style.

Why would you want an old OS's theme like XP's in Longhorn / Vista??

How about adding a Windows 3.11 Theme?

I highly doubt MSSTYLE's will be supported in Vista, primarily because Visual Styles were bitmap rendered and that's pretty slow and eats up a lot of ram, their new theming engine will be extremely different, i'm assuming vectored rendered.

You'd hope it will be vector rendered, but I am beginning to doubt it. Certainly, Vista only uses vector graphics in a few isolated places. Generally, I get the feeling that the gui is still being rendered by the old GDI platform. All the effects available are posible with software like window blinds in XP, and the way that it still tears to me suggests that there's no new graphics engine as yet.

Why would we want it to???? I'll tell you why, because if Vista comes out looking as ****e as it currently does, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. It's grim looking. All of the colours clash, the theme looks dull and in some places hideous. I can only hope that MS hire some of the quality themers you see making styles for XP such as Stefanka or KoL.

I mean, they must be holding out on us right? Please god.

What does that have to do with supporting legacy MSSTYLEs?

Well, it is using the new engine to render. To could not do what it is doing with GDI.
