Crazy_Seb
You cant use SD on a DDR mobo. Thats not possible. They are two different types of RAM, so you should get new RAM also. :)
Snowhawk
I currently have a p3 933 running the i815e chipset (bad bad bad), so I gave myself the choice of changing the mobo or upgrading mobo/cpu, I decided the latter, but the cuv266 (via apollo pro) is a good chipset, haven't heard many bad things about it (especially when compared to the i815e) ecs k7s5a has 4 mem slots, 2 for sd, 2 for ddr, the mem you decide to use can only be one type, no mixing, and its based off the SiS 735 chipset :D best of all, 1800+ cpu and ecs k7s5a can be found very cheap on pricewatch (130$ last I checked) http://www.ecs.com.tw/products/k7s5a.htm
Arpit
i need it for my PIII because the current mobo only supports upto 512 MB RAM and i have that already....don't want to have to upgrade in next couple of years besides the RAM...that's why...:o and yeah, i will be getting DDR RAM for it... i wonder how much the 1 GB DDR stick would be...:ponder:
username
with using the same CPU / RAM, a newer motherboard may give you a 10% increase tops. Not a smart upgrade IMO.
Arpit
username, my idea is to put off upgrading for next couple of years...and if I can do that with 6X as much RAM...why not go for it? :o
handyman
Asus is preety cool because they have a 3 year warranty on the mobo. + they have something called cop which shuts down your computer if the cpu gets so hot. I reccomend going with ddr ram because its a standard. if they came out with something faster, you can still use the ddr ram.
