Cyranthus
i think it should look how it did with ie6 just add tabs... i think the new layout looks messy and unorganized.
Jexel
Time for me to give my 2p and disagree...The reason for the menu being moved is partially to do with ActiveX toolbars, partially to better show the hierarchy: You open ONE browser, which can have MULTIPLE tabs, each of which can have INDIVIDUAL SETTINGS, the tabs own those menu bars, not the other way around. 586301885 why can't they just put the menu on top and have the active x belong to each of the tabs? Plus i don't see how the menu on the bottom gives the tabs individual settings.

Jason
Does it really matter as long as it works well. Who actually looks at the browser personally I prefer to look at the website content.

FreqFace
I would at least like an option to move the address bar and menu where I please. I hope they let you do it in the final, the menu bar underneath the tabs looks terrible IMO. It'd be quite cool if they made a 'classic' look option in IE7, making it look just like IE6 but with tabs.
Angel Blue01
Have the toolbar, the address bar, the menu bar, tabs all on separate rows.

Hurmoth
It would be nice to see Microsoft allow us to put the items where we want, but I like the layout myself so if they don't make it customizable, I won't be hurt.
Hiiragi Tsukasa
I like how one person doesn't like a subtle decision made by Microsoft, and then how that person thinks everything should change for them. The IE7 tabs work in a diffrent way than Firefox. Like that post explaining with the chinese thing. If you don't like IE then report it to Microsoft. Unless of course you are using a leaked Beta, then just use Firefox. I'm using a leaked beta and I never even opened IE up. I just went and made a shortcut to Firefox on my XP partition. Malisk
Actually it makes sense under the tabs. Because those menus are concerning each individual tab, not the whole application. So if I goto View > Encoding > Chinese, I'm not making every tab's content encoded in Chinese, I'm making the tab which the menu is in encoded in Chinese. 586301386 This doesn't apply to nearly all menu options, such as Inernet Options, so it just ends up as confusing you if you think about it that way. Nomad_
I have never really cared for tabs myself, I have always disabled them In other browsers. But, I do like the tabs In IE 7. :)
Dr.Jones
Tabs are not wide enough. The tab for this page reads : "Neowin.net -> What Inter" And there's still like 75% of the tab bar empty.. They should scale accordingly to space that is left at the right /edit : "is left at the right" lol

f0rbez
I agree. They should have left it alone. Use normal tabs like every other freakin browser!
JiveMasterT
i cant decide if i like the tab placement or not... it's kind of annoying, but I dunno... personally, I use maxthon, which uses the IE engine, and the tab layout feels much more comfortable. it really bothers me that a browser wouldnt let you move the toolbars... that was one of my main reasons for not using firefox believe it or not. Commodore Max
Big deal. This is only a beta. Why is everyone freaking out like this is the actual finished product ?
LTD
The average user who uses a computer in order to get work done, play games, enjoy the internet, access and play their digital content won't care. If certain buttons are in different places, they'll simply adapt and won't even notice it after a while. IE the way it is now looks fine. I'm sure all that crap can be cusotmized and moved around fairly easily anyway. The average user uses a computer the way it was *meant* to be used. Playing with the settings and then obsessing about them as if they actually mean anything in the grand scheme of things requires therapy, not Microsoft's attention. If IE 7 will be more secure, can display most websites and associated meda content correctly, and will block popups, that's really all that matters. With tabs thrown in, it'll be even better. There is a difference between Beta "discussion" and devoting whole threads to ****ting on closed Betas that were never meant for your consumption. todd
Big deal. This is only a beta. Why is everyone freaking out like this is the actual finished product ? 586325899 Because unless people rant about it, Microsoft has no reason to change it. People need to stop saying, "It's only BETA." Microsoft has people that research what users think about the current beta. How will they know if no one complains? Personally, I think consistency is important. That's why the menubar should be directly below the titlebar.
