yisman
Every time I open Firefox, it won't let me do anything. The green arrow shows up, but when I click it, it says there are no new updates available. I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 regular version. This used to happen like 50% of the time I opened FF. Now it happens every time. Edited August 4, 2005 by yisman
bangbang023 Veteran Posted July 31, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2005 create a new profile and see if it still happens.
yisman
It also happened in previous versions of Firefox, BTW.
bangbang023 Veteran Posted August 2, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 2, 2005 Did you create a new profile like I said?

yisman
yes, and it helped, although I'll admit I'm mystified why I was having this problem in the first place. The other problem I occasionally used to have (which I've seen other people mention), is that FF used to popup the profiles box whenever I opened the program. If I tried to use my profile, it would tell me it's in use. I was only able to use Guest. Recently, it's been this other problem... Thanks bangbang :)

yisman
Yeah, I've noticed that sometimes when you try to open FF again, it won't open, and I have closed it manually through task manager. I thought the "profile is in use" error is something else, because why would it allow you to use FF at all if it's already open?

yisman
OK. One more, somewhat unrelated problem: When I open Gmail in Firefox or IE, nothing happens if I try to click on something. It loads, but then it just sits there. Clicking on mail messages yields no result. I am only able to use my Gmail account when I'm on Opera. Anyone have any idea? bangbang023 Veteran Posted August 4, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 4, 2005 Do you have some kind of antivirus installed that also has script blocking? That may be causing the problems. I believe GMail uses html in Opera while using scripts in Fx and IE.
yisman
The only AV I have installed is NAV 2004, and it isn't even using the Auto-Protect feature. I don't think that's the problem.
