Osiris
Hey all, Just two quick questions, I asked one in another thread but ill reask it here just for good measure. 1. I might be way off here but I know theres a 2.4 or 2.7 odd gb DVD version of Beta 1 but I was under the impression there was also a 700 odd mb CD version, is that the case? And if so wouldnt there be a world of difference b/t the two? 2. Simply what happens if you install Beta1 on a system with a graphics card non friendly to Vista, eg Radeon 9000 Pro, would it run just without the glass effects, or no ones tried it on a non "friendly" card yet, Cheers. hollatyou
1.for 32 bit, its 2.5GB and for 64bit, its 1,7GB.....the 700mb cd would probablly the older verison(which was named longhorn) 2.I have Radeon 9800 Pro, and it runs good with vista besides ati and nVidia all realeased new drivers to support vista now....so if you run into problem and use either of those brands' video cards, you could go there and d.l the new drivers. As for other graphic cards, i wouldn't have any ideas than..... hope this helps :D ::edit:: just saw a list of the vista friendly video cards in a thread....:p https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=350316
Post-It Note
I don't know why you would say 700mb is odd :p. If you don't have a glass-compatible card, then it reverts to the non-glass theme, which doesn't look good.
Osiris
no no I meant 700 mb odd as in around that size not odd as in strange or peculiar. Ah well im due for a format so I might install it and see how it goes, if it seems to perform on par or better than XP as some people have said it does I might invest in a new video card. Cheers. all.

It depends, some peole got lucky, while others didn't. For example. Netgear dg834g routers don't play nice with Vista, you can't access the administration site for your router. You also can't connect to MSN Messenger or use Azureus' uPnP stuff and probably plenty of other problems i haven't run accross. Web browsing works fine though. If you have an Audigy 2 zs sound card... well good luck with that too :) some games work, while some don't (if your a matrix online fan, sorry to dissappoint..) As a general use word processing, web browsing, email checking OS, its pretty stable though.
