Deathray
Should've wrote the article after he slept, might have helped the article a bit :p
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted August 1, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted August 1, 2005 Wow, this guy really has no idea whatsoever. And as such really has nothing valuable to comment on Vista Beta
zhangm Supervisor Posted August 1, 2005 Supervisor Share Posted August 1, 2005 All I can say after reading that drivel is, "The english language weeps..." You'd figure that in those 22 years of using computers, you could have taken a few minutes to master the english language and learn to type correctly on a keyboard. Unprofessional indeed! Even the most basic Nokia phone has autocomplete built in so why do i have to click buttons before a result. Wow, just...wow... <infomercial voice> Ever irritated because your operating system doesn't do things until you tell it to? Windows Vista, with its included Time Travel software, will allow your Windows system to do things before you tell it to! ActiveX control dialog slowing you down? Not to worry! Vista will automatically click the Install button so you don't have to! </infomercial voice>

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted August 1, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted August 1, 2005 I made no comment on his English, but rather that his review is based upon some VERY shallow experiences so far, and as such - contributes nothing!
Malisk
What a strange article... I'm not even going to start about picking on where he's wrong. What's "Windows 5.3"? If he doesn't even know what Windows version he's talking about, he should just call it "Vista". Hmm... Of a dozen new features in IE, he mentions the functionality of a toolbar button. Look here for a better critical Vista Beta 1 review: http://winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista_beta1_01.asp
kinetix63 Veteran Posted August 1, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 1, 2005 That article itself does have some pretty valid points I think. I have to agree with his views on the UI in it's present incarnation, and I also don't particularly like the breadcrumbing - I think it confuses the issue somewhat (although if MS are finally going to do away with the concept of each drive having a letter - bring it on!). However, what I don't think the article takes in to account is the fact that this is a TECHNICAL beta, developed specifically for developers and IT professionals. This build is nowhere near ready for end user experience testing, and MS have plainly said that. If they guy had picked this copy of vista up in a store, and experienced it how it is now, then I would have to say that every point made would be valid. But lets keep the perspective eh?
