a_witko
I like the idea of transparent windows, as it suits the operating system name; "Windows", however, so far I don't believe Microsoft is utilizing all the possibilities with it... rather than a transparent border in a glass-look, why not make the WHOLE window in a glass-look... the area in windows where you can see icons, it should looks as though the icons are on a panel of glass rather than on a white background etc... The first screenshot illustrates the places where there should be MORE glass-look transparency (from Windows Vista BETA 1). Now the second screenshot looks absolutely rubbish compared to what I'm trying to let you envisage, but it illustrates all menus, icons and buttons in programs should be on a transparent glass-look window... (please imagine a glass-look additional to the transparency effect in your head) HOWEVER, from looking at the progress of Whistler Beta 1 through to RTM, I'm sure microsoft know about the 'windows' name coincidence and the new glass look and will only exploit it in the next beta or rtm versions. All the transparency is nice, but it would be very difficult to read what the text says in the window box if the white background were made to have a glass effect. I really hope that they do not overkill the transparency and glass effects thing.
Xtreme $niper
Im pretty fine with how Aero glass works for now. I wouldnt want my whole window to constantly be transparent. I'd find that annoying. Thats a simple feature I could have had with Windows Blinds years ago.
