sys32
When listening to my music in iTunes, the audio comes out all choppy and awful, however when I listen to music in WMP it sounds great. I'd switch to WMP alltogether, but I purchased most of my music in the iTunes Music Store, so it can only be played in iTunes. Anyone have any ideas besides "Apple sucks noob"? eric53110
I had the SAME problem until I updated my version of iTunes. When I did that, it fixed my problem. I'm not sure this will help you, but it's just a suggestion. Hope it works for you.
sys32
I just fixed it. You need to go into your QuickTime settings and change the audio output to Wave Out instead of DirectAudio. Thanks anyway eric53110!
mattisking
Something is wrong. Duh. I just wanted to state that up front. I'm very much a Windows guy but I've loved iTunes since the beginning and actually have very little respect for WMP. At any rate, there are lots of possibilities that could account for this. One possibility is that you have something installed that includes an Audio "Hook". An example would be something along the lines of "Total Recorder". It can record from any source... like recording streaming music and hooks your audio. This caused me problems with iTunes (much like you've described) as well as some major gaming sound problems. Another possibility could be sound card drivers. Check to see if anything "weird" is displayed in your Device Manager. The obvious thing would be reinstalling iTunes. There's also a question of installed codecs, and you might try playing with the "Audio" tab under iTunes preferences. I hope something in that helps you out. In general, if "DirectAudio" isn't working properly, then your sound card drivers probably need an update and/or something is wrong with DirectX on your system. sys32
Yeah I shouldn't have to do a lot of things that I have to do with this laptop. It's the worst machine ever and I've pretty much accepted it's quirks and oddities. The next step is throwing it out the window! :p
bigl523
yet another reason to buy cd's and rip them yourself imho. that way you dont have to get the compressed stuff that apple gives you and you can make your own 320kbps mp3's. free yourself from using itunes and use winamp with the ml_ipod plugin. You don't know what you're missing.
