Disable debug mode - very slow running

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I've installed vista, which took ages, but my system aint that new, so no worries there.

Problem is, Vista seems to be in debug mode, as system very very slow.

Once started and loaded desktop, the hard drive stops ( as it would normally when its finished loading whats needed) But as soon as I move the mouse, the hard drive starts chugging away and the mouse movements become unsmooth, this is why I think its debugging.

This carries on until the system manages to shut down, which takes ages.

Although, in safe mode, its as fast as XP.

Any ideas on what the problem is here.

I am sure I dont have checked/debug version.

Any help would be cool. Can I disable this debug somehow, or anyway I can check to see if I'm right.[/u]

What are your system specs? The amount of memory you have is very important.

The system could be happily paging away.

Edit: If you have the check/debug version the ISO will be labeled accordingly.

Hi there

512 memory

12gb hardrive - although tried two different hardrives.

- it becomes slow whilst booting (b&w longhorn logo)

- it runs very fast in safe mode

Unless you actually downloaded the chk build, it is unlikely you have it. Are there any banged out devices in device manager? What video drivers do you have installed? how much free space do you have on the boot drive (where the pagefile is set).

I don't assume you have a kernel debugger attached do you?

hi guys

Checked DMA and its ok.

I've tried selecting "Start Windows Normally" but that didnt work either.

I'm thinking driver issue now because slowness starts whilst loading up.

It starts about five seconds into black and white longhorn logo loading section.

Is there any way of checking what files its loading in this stage?

Maybe I can work out what file is causing to start being slow.

Johnny
