TomislavXP
What does mean the word vista? I was two weeks off, and I missed beta 1, but I couldn't find the real meaning of this word. Is this a new codename? Or what?

heslo
It doesn't "mean" anything, it is the final name for Longhorn like XP was to Whistler. Vista in other languages however translates to "view"

tp2215
I read somewhere that the word vista doesnt actually mean anything, however, its being nicknamed Windows VI where vi are the first two letters of vista and its also the roman numeral for 6 which it is the 6th released version of windows. (think about it, add it up). I also read though that there maybe a possiblitily of them still renaming it before its released because there are so many programs and companies that are utilizing vista somewhere in there name so there are tons of lawsuits already starting to pour in. +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted August 3, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted August 3, 2005 TP2215: Point 1: Vista does mean something, as I explained. Point 2: MS will not be renaming it, as they are already spending massive money on this branding. Point 3: VI is BS. It's some fanboys clinging to the 2 letter thing of the last few years. Dunno where you are reading these things, but 3 for they they're wrong!

JiveMasterT
thats the word in bobonese for ham, and since ham is tastey they want people to know that the new windows is going to be tastey!
Hiiragi Tsukasa
I rather like typing out Windows VI instead of Vista. Kinda like instead of typing eXPerience you type XP, but then again, XP was the full name..
