CNET user reviews for Windows Vista

Recommended Posts

I never ever look at user reviews. More than half of them havent even tried the thing they are reviewing, and a few others are just spam.

I mean look at the stupidity here:

Rating: 3 - "A Rip off of Mac OS X!!!"

Rating: 5 - "Great if MS doesn't price the product out of the range of those who make a low wage."

Rating: 10 - "Windows Vista will go all the way!"

And none of them have ANY good reasons for their ratings.

I'm beta tester of windows vista and I think if I will rate it I will put 3.5 out of 10, because is fully of bugs (I know is a beta), compatibility problems with softwares and hardwares, so I decided I will not going to test the second one until Vista became RTM version, so this will taste what the final version will be.

You must have been one of the unlucky ones then. Everything worked right out of the "box" for me. I give it more like a 8.5.

I can bet none of these people has used Vista. I have seen poeple rating product on cnet even before the product is released. Come on. How can you tell whether the product is good or bad without even using it. I don't trust cnet.com user rating.

I would personally give it 7 out of 10 stars. Yes it is buggy, but we have to understand that it is a beta. From where it stands now, it seems that Microsoft is heading down the right road, now let's hope they continue down this road and they don't veer off.

Ran pretty stable on my PC until I tried to install my mobo drivers, but I admit that was out of my own Stupidity. In terms of stability I would give it about 75%... just due to that hiccup. Boot up time was faster than XP on this machine, but it was a fresh install so I'll also take that into account. I'm sure we'll have lot's more to critisise when Beta 2 arrives!

Personally, 6.5/10, and i think thats a really good rating (6.5) because its in the first beta stage, so you cant expect it to blow you away, the concepts are great, and we will see them used nicely in beta 2. Buggy? yes, of course it is, its in a beta stage, so i hate when people keep saying oh its buggy, it needs to be better

1. Who cares if it resembles or is a "rip off of Mac OS X", eye candy is eye candy

2. True M$ does tend to iflate its prices on new products, and by all means it should be kept at a reasonable price for the average consumer.

BUT, what does a "Mac rip off" and "Pricing" have to do with the features and quality of Windows Vista!

Whilst it may have little to do with the quality of the final product, it does put the parent company in a strange light, considering they've for years called Linux as "anti-american", open source as a 'destroyer of innovation' and how their company "innovates" this and that.

In the end, they leech off others just like everyone else.

7/10 - Vista needs to have fewer services - 4 scrolls worth of services in services.msc. Vista needs to sort out some networking issues and the UI (which isn't complete).

/me cries "BETA!!!"

How about this one everyone? How about you don't rate something which hasn't been released and is still in the test phases?

Sure, rate the Beta, but don't be a plank by rating a OS which hasn't been released yet.
