Grumpy BIOS

Recommended Posts

I turned my PC back on from its hibernation state and as the BIOS flashed on it flashed up and told me

"Sec Master ACPI incompatible" thats my Sony CDROM drive btw

Anyway after looking in the BIOS it all seemed fine, so i rebooted and the message did not come back. However i reset again and changed a few settings to make sure it didnt come back (re-auto detected the drives again) and this time on reboot it told me the checksum was wrong. :ermm:

"Ahah" i thought "Its broken :D" and went into the BIOS again (my brand new TFT screen is still on order, fecking PC would break down now :disappoin ) ah but on reseting and changing my config it saved and rebooted and no more message.

I dont know why it spontaneously thought my CDROM drive was ACPI incompatible (and choose to share that info with me) but its v.odd. Its a brand new drive (less than a few months old) and has worked perfect since i first put it in.

Its lost the BIOS settings before (on reboot or just for no reason 3 times in about 2 years) but i could never find any explination for it. Now this......Cosmic Rays? :paranoid:

Sec Master is the CDROM yeah. Its never said that before, its interesting it went away when i rebooted. I guess i could be getting some power spikes maybe and its sending the BIOS a bit funny from time to time, or its just is cosmic rays. :)

I was referring to the fact that you still have a machine like that running......not that you were having ACPI issues with it. lol
