STV
Telling people to boycott IE will do nothing. The people who use and like IE will just continue to use it. 586313953 either way, he is GREATLY OVERESTIMATING his fame and influence. dtanderson
And when regular users start using FF and find some of their websites don't render correctly, they'll say screw this crap and go back to IE. 586313949 I have been using FF for months and have not had any major problems with websites not rendering correctly and would never go back to IE unless it makes some major improvements/enhancements that would make it more attractive to me than FF. tktino
Instead of boycotting why not help the problems with the browser and work with them instead of against them? 586313890 ditto. The project is only 2-4months old.
Southern Patriot
Instead of boycotting why not help the problems with the browser and work with them instead of against them? 586313890 And how do you propose that people do that? IE isn't open source, and the IE team doesn't seem to pay much attention to feature requests, and seems to not care much about sticking to established standards. AJerman
https://www.neowin.net/comments.php?categor...7#comment387625 I call for Paul Thurrott to be boycotted. Won't happen though, he leaks information that's not supposed to be leaked, so people mistakenly take him as someone knowledgable.
Lexcyn
I agree. From a standards point of view, I will never use IE simply because it doesn't conform to web standards. Boycott IE all the way!

marke
"Holy craparonies! Paul Thurrott? Paul Thurrott of "Paul Thurrot's Supersite for Windows?!? One of the most well-known supporters of Microsoft's platform, openly encouraging a boycott of IE? I think this truly shows that things are moving, for web standards. The guy never seemed like an MS loony to me, his albeit suggective pov still anchored somewhat in reality. His stance is perfectly logical, it just took a bit of time for him to reach it. Standards are a healthy thing for this industry, it's simply coprorations in the vein of Microsoft who opposes them. Welcome back to reality Paul." Colin-uk Veteran Posted August 2, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 2, 2005 numerous Boycotts have been called for before and nothings changed, yeah so 10,000 people visiting his site and other tech sites that report it, even if they all boycott IE, it still wont be enough, there are still thousands of businesses that will carry on using it and thousands more non-geeks that will too. so yeah i dont really see this makeing any difference......... chmsant
IE does need to become more standards compliant. I still love the browser, but it becomes very hard to try and code for IE, and then "hack" back for FF, Mozilla, Safari and other browsers. Conformity_Inc
I see a lot of fanboy comments but I have yet to hear a credible reason "not" to use Firefox. 586314451 It will make me like mens bums. On another note though. Native FireFox is pretty redundant, you need a multitude of extentions to get any notable "additional" function out of it. I'm not saying any other browser is better, but with that in mind (as any other browser can be "plugged in") why would many change? MrMB
I'm in for the boycott. What's more I urge you to force your friends into not using IE. I've lost count of the number of friends I've forced firefox on and every single one of them says its better and now they dont ask me how to get rid of spyware every ten minutes. Go Paul!
