dacris2000
Are any of you actually thinking of using the beta as a full-time OS? To me, it's nothing more than a novelty - something nice to look at, but nowhere near functional. Obviously there are huge compatibility issues... Not to mention bugs all over the place. Windows XP is going to stay as my primary OS until beta 2 at least.

HoochieMamma
It's good to play wth in VMware or VirualPC but no way would I even THINK about using it day to day.
petroid
I have a few computers set up here at my desk through a KVM switch. For the last few days I've been using Windows Vista Beta 1 almost exclusively. However there is still so much it can't do - that's where my Windows XP computer comes in! Just a quick button press and I can perform any task I need.

Novaoblivion
No way its pretty cool and fun to play around with but too buggy for a main OS. I have gotten to many BSODs and it wont run my LCD at its native res.
GhostShell
Nope, there are still way too many bugs in it for it to be used as the primary OS.

NEVER85
If you frequently use a printer that isn't Bluetooth-based, don't use Vista beta 1. Simple as that.

benplace
I am running it in the office full time, all of my drivers worked, its been 3 days now, no Blue Sceens or anything. Using the lddm as well.
neufuse Veteran Posted August 3, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 3, 2005 until full driver support is out for audigy and nvidia graphics cards in LDDM and ATI completely in LDDM (i mean all the cards capable of handleing it not just some) i don't think I'll have it on 24/7 as primary... right now installing it on a weekday basis for testing and ghosting back to XP on the weekends for play. Ramble
Yes and no. I stil use linux for my primary OS, but ive been using Vista for my primary windows OS. Its great, very stable.
neufuse Veteran Posted August 3, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 3, 2005 don't you mean the exact reverse of that? because I've seen no problems with connected and network printers at all, only ones that use wireless connections
+chorpeac MVC Posted August 3, 2005 MVC Share Posted August 3, 2005 Nope not yet, I love the OS, but I want to have the new Aero effects and everything else that should be included in beta 2. :)
Xtreme $niper
For me the OS has been very stable with only a few all out crashes. I've used it as my primary OS for three days straight, but now that I am having issues with icons I have gone back to XP until I fix that problem. Lasker
I'm beta tester and this OS I think is the most buggy I ever see in a windows beta version, after I tested Vista beta 1 I unistalled and format the disk in just two days, why? many bugs, incompatibility issues and so on, I will test it again but when Vista reach RC versions. Code.Red
I can't run any of my steam games (or any, at all for that matter) and I don't want to be bothered restarting to get into XP to play games, so I just boot into XP mostly. :)
BigCheese
For the past couple of days, I've been mainly using Vista, but in another day or two, I'll probably start using mainly XP again.
Koolslacker
No way! There are way too many bugs! It's good to play around with, but not ready for primary OS. I'll wait until they release beta 2. By the way, does anyone know when beta 2 is releasing?

pcw
You're not really supposed to run a BETA os as your Primary OS.

What is the point of becoming a Beta Tester if you think it's too buggy and removed it? In fact, why are you even a beta tester? So you can be a show off and tell your friends that you have the latest operating system?
