Morphos
I think I finally decided to get the Asus A7V333 line of mobo instead of the quite nice Shuttle AK35GTR...But deciding on ram throws me for a loop. Which would be better, PC2100 with CAS Latency 2-2-2, or PC2700 (which works with the mobo) with CAS Latency of 2.5-3-3?
username
you need the PC2700 because the KT333 can run the ram at 166mhz the slower cas timings is not going to be anything you can notice, maybe in the sandra memory bench but thats it
Morphos
well, yeah...I know the RAM will run faster under the mobo, both will work with it. I was just wondering which was greater, the performance of PC2700 versus a faster CAS timing...probably the PC2700's faster clock??
username
either way is little increase, lower cas timing and faster ram really does not do too much, the PC2700 would let your raise your FSB up to 166 as well. Also can be used in future (hammer) Athlon mobos
lx qu33n
get the faster 2700. a much better purchase and it will run great, trust me. i personally use 3000 corsair msx performance ram but that is just me. :)
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 8, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 8, 2002 yeah you can get cas 2 333mhz ddr, like corsair (they rock) and if you really wanted to rock, unlock your athlon xp lower the multiplier(or keep it and OC) and raise the fsb to 166.
