Aero Glass

Recommended Posts

yep, its got classic mode....

If it's not too much trouble, would you be so kind as to provide a screen shot or two of Vista in Classic mode, perhaps even side by side with a similar shot in the default skin mode?

I would appreciate it much.

Thanks,

BK

And remember, Vista won't be out until end of 2006 - you probably will upgrade your video card by then anyway.

FWIW, Glass runs very well on my notebook with a Radeon X600...

Besides, to enable AeroGlass, you need only a GeForce 6xxx-series or Radeon 9550 or better VPU (two-year-old technology). My AIW 9700 Pro (three year old tech) does AeroGlass just fine.

The quibble I have with Windows Vista isn't the graphics (or even the networking) as both ends of my hardware there are supported using drivers included with the OS. The problem is *audio* (specifically, Creative Audigy 2 audio) as that is decidedly still an issue.

I hope that beta 2 solves that.

I don't know what all of the fuss is about a new video card is pocket change.

I don't consider $249-$279 for an X800 XL (for example) to be pocket change. :)

I don't see what the big deal is. Microsoft always overstates their minimum specs. Aero runs on cards that are out now so you don't need to upgrade.

how do they think the average person is going to respond when they think they are getting a really kick ass awsome looking GUI, and then once its installed they cant see it because their computer isnt good enough, they're not going to be happy.

Probably the same as Mac Mini users feel. :p

(apprently the 32 meg video card can't handle the latest and greatest GUI goodness in their recent OS X releases)

Me? I don't need flash and sizzle. I need productivity and consistency.

I don't mind having the option, but I don't want it to be a requirement.

I don't think that anyone knows what Aero Diamond will look like, or what extra features will be added. If we do, please enlighten me. :)

Edit: Heres a shot of Vista in classic..

Glass Extreme ? Good God. Nobody has a clue what they're talking about in this thread.

Aero Glass is the top tier in Vista. Aero Diamond is similar to Aero Glass but for MCE to give it a different look. You can imagine what it might look like. It's not "extreme" I dont' know where this misinformation crept it, it's probably from inquirer articles about WGF 2.0 which wont' even be used in Vista.

I would also like to point out that Glass is not equal to Transparency. XP can already do Transparency. Glass is more advanced than that.

Totally cool. Thank you very much. I do appreciate it.

If ya feel like takin' a good handful of shots, like IE 7 and OE 7 in classic, I'd even appreciate that more. :)

Sincrerely though, thank you.

I do hope that inside those nice classic windows I can make those icons smaller. They are huge. I also hope I can make them the same size. Having some icons huge and others medium and stuff is just wacky on the old eyes.

Friend of mine on MSN installed vista and when using Aero glass on his 6800 he gets while dragging around the windows no more then 1% CPU usage as of now in the beta now when it is all tunred off all the effects it is around 60 to 86% while dragging windows
