Sammyinnit
I have seen quite a few thread's asking if their card will work with DWM. Ok to resume this... (Tired to reapeat)Vista NEED a DX9 HARDWARE card with 64MB to run the DWM Glass. Otherwise it will run like a normal OS WHITHOUT the DWM Glass Effect. Grrr. Apparently it looks for the hardware addresses to the PCI Express versions of these cards and thereby does not work. When you boot up you get a bit of graphics corruption on a black screen then your monitor goes to standby - while the video card sends no signal. According to Microsoft's website you can download the latest drivers from ATI's website to fix this. That is WRONG. I tried that and exact same problem, so it must not yet be fixed. If anyone has a fix for this, or more recent internal drivers from ATI, please let me know! Thanks, Jordan

fred65
Do you think this hardware support will be expanded - I assume since this is early days they havent got around to enabling it for all cards? Some of those cards that won't work would be more than capable. yes?
ev0|
It's nice that even my old ass, crap 5600 Ultra runs glass. I feel bad for all the Geforce 4 users tho.
democles
Whew.. mine not supports at all, damn... Intel Extreme Graphics 2 seems to crap right now, but there still Beta2 and RC1 and else.. I guess MS will kind enough to let my integrated graphics run at full effects.
b0m8er
I'm sure that mine GeForce 6800 Go Ultra is supported... as long as Dell releases driver for it later.. if not.. I can always infmod nVidia's official DWM driver, that will for sure be awailable by the time Vista comes out

Ajapi
Can anyone confirm FX5200 can candle Glass? Also, does the OS feel responsive on a 512mb RAM rig? Also, would an AXP 2000+ hinder performance?

NarsEsp
Sorry for repeating my self, i have posted this already in another topic, but this is a more general than the other one where i've posted wich was pointing for Radeon 9800 Pro users. I have a Radeon 9800 XT and i can't enable the DWM. I tried all drivers available and tweakvista and nothing worked for me. Then i went to the Device Manager and i found that i didnt have any driver for the agp, i installed and nothing, plus after installing that driver i got lag during dragging and opening windows even with the normal catalyst driver wich i used for better performance. Due to this my conclusion is that the chipset isnt supported. I am using a SINXP1394 MB from Gigabyte with SIS 655 chipset, specs here --> http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/MotherBoard/Pro...0%20Ultra2).htm Can anyone see if the DWM effects are working on MB with SIS chipsets and compatible graphic boards? joshchiu
I have a laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 and the laptop uses the SiS 648FX chipset. I managed to install the AGP driver from the SiS website...but the installation was only successful sometimes (most of the time it fails). In device manager the 'Display Adapter' shows 'MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 (LDDM)' but then in display properties and dxdiag it says I have no video card (hence it shows VGASAVE and N/A, which is equivalent to the default driver loaded when in Safe Mode). I am thinking that SiS chipsets are not fully supported in Windows Vista Beta 1...I hope that they really fix it soon.
NarsEsp
one more!! he he.. Anyone else outhere? And u Nvidia graphic cards owners, are u getting the same problem with the SIS chipsets??
CodeThief
I've got a Geforce 6800 with the 77.52 drivers installed (Came with Vista) and I have no glass effects :( Do I need to use the LDDM ones from Nvidia (even though they're the same version number?) NarsEsp
CodeThief can u pls check if your MotherBoard has a SIS chipset controlling your AGP. If u cant find that info pls post your MotherBoard's model . Thx
jimbo11883
I can't achieve a resolution better than 640x480 with my 6800 Ultra AGP using the LDDM drivers available from nVidia. There is some bug in the drivers that will not allow the monitor to switch from the 640x480 resolution to any other resolution, the view port will change though. Come on, nVidia, get your $hit straight!!!!
