USB Modems

Recommended Posts

Any been successful with USB modem installation on the beta ?

I've tried the XP drivers for mine (ECI Telecom USB B-FoCUS 150), and after turning compability mode on 'Windows XP' for it, it installs, yet remains improperly configured thus not running.

Anyone had a better luck with it or similar USB modems ?

i had the same problem with my old usb dialup modem when windows XP was in its RC stages. the software in the modem wasnt configured to work with xp as it wasnt out at the time. prehaps you could be having the same problem.

you could allways use a serial modem if you are on dialup.

I'm having pretty much the same problem.

My USB Modem (BT Voyager 105) and it's drivers work fine in XP (obviously), but cant get either to work in Vista.

I wonder if it's USB modems in General?

Or maybe XP drivers?

xSuRgEx: ADSL, actually.

I wasnt expecting the XP drivers to work on vista b1, and i sure wasnt expecting ECI to support the beta with drivers like nVidia\ATi, but i just wanted to know if any other ECI users got it working, or USB modems in general.

those of you who got their USB modems working, any special issues with the XP drivers ?

This seems to be a specific problem with mine, then.

Ok, we i think i've been partically successful, as i didn't even get this before

Although, saying that, it still doesn't work properly, thus, i still can't connect to the Interweb with Vista.

Now, i've got to try to figure out why is has cancelled the installation, i know i didn't!

Damn thing...

It's something similar here, the device driver installs after i force it to WinXP Compatability mode, But the device itself remains unfunctional due to it being "Not Configured Properly".

Also, i tried installing the latest drivers from ECI's site rather then the ones i got on CD, and when i restarted after the install, booting into vista again gave me the error: "Installation Cannot Complete. iKernel.exe Could Not Be Found. Aborting."
