I am just wondering how many people are still using vista. For me it started out working fine but then soon after the problems began... blue screens when browsing folders occured more frequently.. the last straw for me was when it blue screened after I came out of locked mode.

I don't at all blame microsoft. After all, this was beta 1, and a private beta at that. It's my fault if I download a version and it ends up being unstable at this stage of development, so I'm not complaining at all.. I'm glad I had a chance to test it, and was going to format my xp anyways so I used this as an excuse.

For those who still want to "try" it, let me tell you, at this point, it's nothing very interesting... just some eye candy at this point... you'd be best waiting until beta 2 or later, in my opinion, like most of the "real" beta testers here recommend.

And I had plenty of fun testing it. :) I hear quite a number say that they are using this as their main operating system, I'm just curious that's all.

point being. you should be expecting these bugs. thats the whole point of testing, to make sure there arent any bugs in it when it ships.

What sort of a question is this ?? beta testers have no choice but to use it, only MSDN users get the choice.

Umm theres far more than their than just the eye candy. Its the eye candy you should be ignoring when posting your bugs to Microsoft in beta 1.

You can't just give up testing the OS when you feel like it, your there to post bugs right till its RTM'd unless you stole it

Watch me...

Anyway.

I installed it, played with it for a hour or two, got bored with it, uninstalled it. Way too unstable for main usage for me and too much things that don't really work with it yet.

I'm wondering how many of the "I have uninstalled it and am using XP again." voters did so because their 15 days of unactivated use ran out.

So true! I personally am only using it for testing right now, I've already reported a few bugs as well. I personally can't wait all of the programming features fully implemented :)

Not for a while yet I don't think, though I haven't looked at the roadmap recently either.

I am using Vista full time now, it works pretty well, but there are some problems that can be annoying. But hey, it's a beta, and that's what makes it fun. Vista is the only OS I have installed now.

It seems that most weren't in the least interested in bug reporting etc, they just wanted to be able to say they tried Vista. That's their call, but please don't register as a beta tester if all you want to do is "play around."

There are plenty of people out there that have a genuine interest in making software better and probably lost out because some kid with a need to boast got their place.

I'm not registered (and wouldn't register) as a beta tester simply because i don't feel i personally have enough knowledge to report anything more than the most sedimentry information. It would be much more helpful to future users, and even yourself, if you left those places open for people who do know what they're looking for.

I'll probably end up running a dual boot setup next time. (beta 2) By then I'll have a larger HDD.. my "operating system" drive is only 30 GB, didn't feel like installing it on my 250GB data drive..

I did my part while using it and did submit a couple of bugs as well.
