Suren
Even though there is a registry hack out there to enable, you index outside "%system-drive%\Users\" directory, so that you can also index custom places, it only works on folders inside that partition not the partition itself. Therefore, I whacked my brain for an easier solution and here it is. Note: I am not responsible for any unforeseen side effects of this method. So here is the method: Step 1: Right Click "Computer" then select "Manage" Step 2: Select "Disk Management" Step 3: right click the partition you want to index and click "Change Drive Letters and Paths" Step 4: click "Add" and select mount in empty folder Step 5: create a new folder inside the "%systemdrive%\Users\" profile and then select it, then click "Ok" "Ok" and exit "Computer Management" Step 6: now the Windows Search Engine will index that partition and show the results in virtual folders with any modifications. Repeat for any other drives. Here is the original way. (Note this will not index root drives) HOW TO: Customize search locations in Vista Beta 1 Edit: I would like your feedback on this :) Edited August 9, 2005 by Suren

Suren
I have edited the guide to make it more readable, if you have any questions please ask  Good find... anyway ... did u do this for C:\ and all other drives attached to the Os? this can be used for any partition or drive on your computer. Windows Search Engine will think it is indexing only a folder inside the "%systemdrive%\Users\" directory but it will be indexing custom drives.
