Dazzla Veteran Share Posted July 3, 2002 700 Should be plenty. I've only recently wanted to test out the processor so I started encoding some of my DVDs to Divx. To Rip and encode Fight Club, a two hour film, took a total of 4 hours from DVD to "Fight Club.mov". I don't know whether that's good or bad but I seem to remember my Sony VAIO taking almost a day to encode Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Photoshop runs sweet on mine as well, I often have it idling in the background when I'm not using it ready to use. I normally have around 6 or 7 apps open at the same time simply cause I introduces no lagginess or anything to the system. So for what you're after it doing, it will be plenty. I paid ?1200 for my combo iMac. I could have sworn that the superdrive iMac was around ?1600. Edit: Well after a bit of searching I found a few cheaper DVD-r's. Dabs has a pack of 10 4.7 gb DVD-R's for ?12.50, that's a good price for 47gb's worth of data. The DVD-RW I found was ?
KingChris Author Share Posted July 3, 2002 Sorry I ment in terms of spending ?1300 on the combo ?300 is not that much more really. its only the price of the drive plus you get more hard disk and a better cpu on macwarehouse.co.uk the combo is ?1,373.58 and the superdrive one is ?1,608.58 Only ?235.00 in it now makes the superdrive more attractive. Not a bad deal but is the superdrive dvd rw or just dvd r

Not a bad deal but is the superdrive dvd rw or just dvd r It's DVD-RW. I bought mine from Computerwarehouse and they were pretty flawless. Fantastic customer service and quick delivery. It helps that I got a student discount knocking over ?100 off.
